YouthWorks Youth Page

The Youth application opens January 3, 2023! YouthWorks 2023 will operate a 5-week summer program for youth from Monday July 10th – Friday August 11th. Youth may work up five hours per day and five days per week totaling 25 hours (may work more hours in Private Sector).

YouthWorkers will be introduced to workplace experiences, financial literacy development, career exploration opportunities, and skills training. Registered youth will be emailed with more information.

Baltimore City youth ages 14 – 21 (by July 7, 2023) are eligible to apply. Scroll down to learn more about the process to upload documents to your application.

We will not be holding verification interviews in-person and instead expect participants to complete their verification documents in their application. It is essential that you click SUBMIT when completing your application. Continue reading this page for more details.

Completing the online application

For 2023, participants will not have a verification interview. Instead, you must provide the documents outlined below during the application. While you can always save and return to your application later, we encourage you to be prepared by completing all of your documents before you start the application.

Below is a list of items applicants need to be eligible for a YouthWorks job (hover each bullet for more details and click buttons for forms/how-to-guides):

  • Social Security NumberSocial Security Card not required, but be aware of what your number is
  • Proof of Identity Valid Proofs of Identity must be scanned and include:
    • Passport
    • State ID
    • Driver's license or permit
    • School ID
    • School report card or record
    • Voter registration card
    • Military dependent's ID card
    • Permanent Resident Card
    • Alien Registration Receipt Card
    • Employment Authorization Document Card

    For Youth 14-17 years old on 7/7/2023:
    • Clinic, doctor, or hospital record
    • Parent/guardian signature on I-9 form (parent/guardian must be present at verification appointment)
  • Proof of Work Authorization Valid Proofs of Work Authorization must be scanned and include:
    • Passport
    • Social Security Card
    • Birth Certificate (Original/certified birth certificate bearing an official seal, not a hospital record of birth)
    • Permanent Resident Card
    • Alien Registration Receipt Card
    • Employment Authorization Document Card
    • Consular Report of Birth Abroad
    • Certification of Birth Abroad issued by the U.S. Department of State
    • Certification of Report of Birth issued by the U.S. Department of State
    • U.S. Citizen ID Card
    • Identification Card for Use of Resident Citizen in the United States

    Youth who have worked or been verified with YouthWorks between 2015-2023 do not need to provide Proof of Work Authorization
  • Work Permit (if under 18)

    Previously used work permits for YouthWorks can be reused for up to 3 years. YW work permits being reused, must be from 2020 or later.
    To get a NEW Work Permit for 14-18 year olds, click the button Click for 14-18 Work Permit webite below, to apply for a Work Permit on the MD Department of Labor (DLLR) Website.
    PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO SIGN AND DOWNLOAD THE DOCUMENT IN THE DLLR WEBSITE. Then you must attach the Work Permit into the attachment section of your application.

The youth online application for YouthWorks is open from January 3 - April 7, 2023. Baltimore City youth ages 14 – 21 (by July 7, 2023) are eligible to apply. The program will operate from:

Youth applicant must be primary account holder as demonstrated by name on the Check or Direct Deposit Authorization Form. These forms can be obtained from the account holder's bank or credit union.

Important Email Notifications

    You will receive an email once you have submitted your application. At this point you have registered for YouthWorks. Continue checking your email to make sure you correctly completed all the attachments necessary for your application.
    Once you have submitted your application and correctly completed and uploaded all of your documents, you will get an email confirming that your application is complete.
    You will receive a notice of your start date, location, and time as well as supervisor contact information by email, letter, and text* (if opted in).
